This Herbal Medicine qualification is geared towards those wishing to practice as a Herbalist with a holistic approach.

What are the requirements to practice?

Nature Care College Advanced Diploma of Western Herbal Therapeutics will enable you to gain access to insurance and start practicing. Our Advanced Diploma course is a work ready qualification approved by the International Institute for Complementary Therapists (IICT), where graduates are eligible to register for their insurance.

If your purpose of study is to practice, then a Nature Care College Advance Diploma will enable you to practice and enter the industry as a confident practitioner and at an affordable price.

Do I need to outsource my clinical training?

The College campus has an established in-house Wellness Centre where students put their theory into practice during their final year of study treating members of the public under the supervision of experienced clinical practitioners. In our busy Wellness Centre, students treat patients with preventative health care solutions to improve well-being and patients with existing health conditions. Exposure to such depth of clinical experience and expertise provides students with the confidence to graduate as work ready practitioners.

Distance learning students who reside interstate or overseas will need to find a suitably qualified practitioner to supervise their clinical practice requirements. Please contact the college for further information and practitioner application form.

Is there flexibility and can I choose my own study schedule?

Anatomy & Physiology Body Structure

Description: A fundamental component of all major modalities, this subject will teach you an overview of the fundamental Anatomy of Body Structures. This course will focus on the anatomy of the external body structures including the skin and accessory structures, bones of the skeleton, joints and the skeletal muscles.

Anatomy & Physiology Body Systems

Description: A fundamental component of all major modalities, this subject continues on from Anatomy and Physiology of Body Structures and will focus on the anatomy and physiological functioning of each Body System. The final component of this course will focus on processes of pregnancy, labour and lactation and the impact of each body system on Homeostasis and in ageing.

Building Your Successful Practice

Description: This unit of study will describe the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in a healthcare setting with clients, staff, visitors, suppliers and others. You will acquire skills and knowledge to implement and monitor compliance with legal and ethical requirements, skills and knowledge required to arrange referrals to other health care professionals and to provide administration for a clinical health practice.

Clinical Assessment Techniques

Description: This unit of study is designed to equip students with the skills required to take an in depth client history, to perform basic physical examination techniques (including observing and recording vital signs). Students will also be introduced to holistic assessment techniques such as iridology, skin, hair, tongue & nail examination as part of the client consultation- all techniques which form an integral part of the modern Natural Therapies Clinic.

Focusing on those health complaints commonly encountered in early practice. This subject involves a considerable amount of home study.

Description: This unit of study covers the skills required by practitioners to establish and maintain effective communication with clients throughout all interactions and provide basic counselling as required and as appropriate to facilitate the treatment or health service being provided. The skills apply to work in a range of health settings where health services are provided with direct client contact involved.
